Who is the program for?
- Individuals who have successfully completed the Bethel College Transition to Teaching program
- Transition to Teaching completers who have taught full-time for one year
How is the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program structured?
- Elementary education candidates have completed 24 hours in their Transition to Teaching program
- An additional 12 credit hours will need to be completed for the MAT degree
- Secondary education candidates have completed 18 hours in their Transition to Teaching program
- An additional 18 credit hours will need to be completed for the MAT degree
- There are 6 required credit hours of core courses and then options of core electives to complete the final 6 credit hours
What are the basic qualifications for admission?
- Complete a formal application form
- Submit an updated resume
- Submit three new letters of recommendation
What is the program like?
- Students take classes as they are needed and offered—the MAT program is not conducted as a cohort
- Classes are offered in the evening
- Some summer courses may be offered in the afternoon instead of evening
- Electives are available if approved
- Transfer graduate-level credit may be accepted if approved
What are the timelines?
- Courses for Fall 2009 begin August 27th
- Interviews will be prior to admission
What is the cost of the program and is financial assistance available?
- Tuition for graduate courses is $250 per credit hour ($750 for a 3 hour course)
- Books and materials are not included in the tuition
- Parking fee is $50 per semester
- Financial aid is available in the form of loans
