Course Descriptions
ACCT 120 - Business Accounting - 3 Hours
This course serves business majors who desire a basic understanding of the effects of financial transactions and financial reporting. An emphasis is on “transaction analysis” and the practical business implications of accounting.
BADM 121 - Introduction to Business - 3 Hours
An overview of the dynamic world of business, its functions and management tools. This survey course introduces students to the context of business and contemporary issues and explores the implications of viewing business as a calling and/or vocation.
BADM 125 - Introduction to Management - 3 Hours
An introduction to management as a basic process applicable in various business and non-business complexities. Emphasis will be placed on the major managerial functions of planning, organizing, leading (actuating) and controlling.
BADM 220 - Business Finance - 3 Hours
This course provides an introduction to the theory, the methods, and the concerns of business finance. Main topics include: goals and functions of business finance, financial analysis and planning, working capital management, capital budgeting process, and long-term financing.
BADM 221 - Business law - 3 Hours
A study of the principles of contract, agency, sales, employment, insurance, property, partnerships, corporations and bankruptcy. Attention is given to the rights and liabilities in commercial transactions.
BADM 222 - Business Communication - 3 Hours
Prerequisite: ENGL 101
A practical application of the principles and psychological aspects of communication theory as related to the business setting. Emphasis is on written, oral and electronic modes of effective and efficient conveyance and processing of business data for decision-making and implementation.
BADM 223 - Human Relations in Business 3 Hours
A study of how people interact and work together. Includes an examination of why values, attitudes and behaviors can cause relationship problems and how these problem can be prevented or overcome.
BADM 320 - Organizational Development& Change - 3 Hours
A study of organizational development and change with the purpose to achieve enhanced productivity, quality, and increased satisfaction among internal and external stakeholders. Emphasis is on organizational structure and design, individual and group dynamics within the organization, decision-making, change, and conflict.
BADM 334 - Human Resource Management - 3 Hours
An introduction to the management of human resources including employment law, theories and methods of selection, training, performance appraisal, compensation and employee/management relations.
BADM 322 - Principles of Marketing - 3 Hours
A study of methods of marketing and processes invloved in the flow of goods from producer to consumer. Topics may include the marketing mix, research and segmentation, recent developments, and ethical issues.
BADM 436 - Exploring E-Commerce - 3 Hours
A course designed to promote successful e-commerce. Students learn how e-commerce fits into the marketing mix. Course activities include analyzing market trends and case studies, and discussing strategies for attracting the online customer. Students will learn how to measure results and compare them to overall marketing objectives.
BADM 470 - Christian Ethics in Business-Capstone - 3 Hours
Christian ethics in the business environment are discussed. Contemporary issues and case studies are used for analysis. As a method of summative evaluation, the course integrates learning from the other courses in the business major and there is an application of that learning to a final project.
ECON 150 - Introduction to Economics - 3 Hours
This course provides an introduction to the field of Economics. Main topics include the Micro, Macro, and International Economy.
Notes:
(1) Students must demonstrate basic computer literacy or successfully pass CAPP 130 as an elective.
(2) The program manager approves the transfer of business-related credits.
