China Program
Start your new academic year at the Great Wall! Study in the courtyard of the Forbidden City. Pray in the Heavenly Temple, or just practice your Chinese in the Summer Palace. You can navigate the streets of old Beijing on a Flying Pigeon bike, or go eye-to-eye with a Giant Panda in the Beijing Zoo. This is a chance to spend your fall semester studying in Beijing and learning about one of the world's oldest cultures.
China almost defines 'cultural studies' with a nearly five thousand year old civilization that is rich in history with a fifth of the world's population. From Genghis Khan to Deng Xiao-ping (voted by TIME magazine as one of the world's most influential men of the 1990's) - China continues to be a major factor on the world's geopolitical scene and its impact is growing at an economic rate beyond that of any other major country. Not only is the economic engine at full throttle, but sociological and religious movements are also changing and shaping the country in unique ways.
Leaving in early September, most of this trip will be centered in the capital city of Beijing, with excursions to major attractions such as the Ming Tombs and the Great Wall. You will travel to Xi'an, another ancient city in central China to visit Terre Cotta site. You will live and study in Beijing among the University District and other international students.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to visit one of the most varied and interesting cultures on the planet. Don't miss out! LIVE IT!
