Licensing Information

Program Completer Data

We had a total of 51 candidates who completed one of our education programs during the 2011-2012 academic year and took a PRAXIS II content test for licensure. The pass rates on these content tests were a 98%. These same program completers earned an average cumulative GPA of a 3.596.

Application Instructions below or read the Application Manual provided by the Professional Standards Board.

  1. Click on link Apply now
  2. Once the page loads click on the link "Instruction Page"
  3. Read the instructions and to apply click on the link in step 4.
  4. If you are do not have a previous account, you should click on the "Register" link underneath the password box.
  5. Enter your personal information. Corporation and School categories when applying for a Substitute Permit, Emergency Permit or for IMAP.
  6. Submit the form and you will receive your username and password.
  7. Log in and change your password.
  8. Now click on the "Application" link on the left hand side of the page and begin the application process and follow the instructions that are given.

Application and criminal history fee of $36.72 will be processed with a major credit card. Apply now! If you have additional questions or concerns please contact the Licensing Advisor at 574.257.3365. Expect 7 to 10 days to process.

License Renewal

Check with the Licensing Advisor prior to enrolling in any academic work you plan to use for license renewal. Course approval can change at the discretion of the legislature or the Indiana Professional Standards Board. A transcript and the current instructional license are also necessary for renewal.

The Pre-Professional Skills Tests Praxis I (PPST):Skills Test

All Bethel students must take and pass the PPST before being admitted to the teacher preparation program. Application is made during the fall or spring of your sophomore year. The PPST includes three general knowledge tests: Reading, Mathematics, & Writing.

The Subject/Specialty Tests - Praxis II:

All teacher candidates are required to take at least one specialty area test in order to receive certification. These tests are generally taken in the spring of Taking Testyour junior year or the fall of your senior year. Each subject/specialty test is 2 hours in length. While you may want to wait until you have completed all (or most) of your content courses before taking your tests, do not wait until your student teaching semester. Passing scores on these tests is one of the requirements for the Student Teaching Professional Seminar. Also, a delay in receiving your teaching certificate will complicate your job search!
