Sociologist Robert Daniels received his PhD from the University of Akron (OH) in 1991. His dissertation research was entitled “Attitudes toward Abortion, Attitude Strength, and Political Behavior”. Prior to doctoral studies, he earned his MA in sociology from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio and his AB in Psychology and Business Administration from Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana.
With many years of teaching experience, he came to Bethel College from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. He also pioneered sociology into a thriving program at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio. His research interests include the integration of faith and learning, the sociology of idols, and criminology. He has made numerous academic presentations at regional and national conferences, including the North Central Sociological Association Annual Meetings.
Dr. Daniels’ home church is Michiana Covenant Church (PCA) in the South Bend area, where he lives with wife Susan and their five children, whom they home-school. Working hard to achieve success, he has always dedicated much time to service to the college as well as the local community. He cites 1 Corinthians 10:31 as his favorite verse: “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”(NIV)
