Humanities Project

The only course that all Bethel College humanities majors take for completion of the major is the capstone project course. Usually taken during the semester before graduation, the humanities project — normally a 30–50 page paper — allows the student to reflect on his or her unique experience studying the humanities at Bethel and to address. Many students write memoir of their experience in the major, integrating and synthesizing their learning and growth as a student of humanities with their growth and formation as persons of faith and, in the case of double majors, with the content of the second major. The humanities project course is completed when the student passes the oral defense of the project before the Committee on the Humanities and submits a publication copy of the project. All humanities projects are bound and kept in a special collection in the Bowen Library.
