Robert Rhein's principal specialization is piano, but with a wide variety of interests he enjoys the reputation of being a “jack-of-all-trades.” His bachelor’s degree is in Mathematics (with a minor in German), while his advanced degrees (M.M. and D.M.A.) are in Piano Performance. He is constantly active both within Bethel College and in the area as an accompanist, performing throughout the community in classical recitals, choral concerts, opera, and musical theatre. He has also been active as concert and theatre reviewer for the South Bend Tribune, has published fifteen choral works (including some that have been in print continuously for over 25 years), and has performed many solo recitals, all while teaching piano, music theory and history, language (both diction courses and regular modern language courses), and even algebra at Bethel College. His personal library helps to serve as a resource for the department, and with a rudimentary recording studio setup he is often recording rehearsal CDs for students or otherwise editing recordings for study, auditions, and other purposes.
