Purpose
The Licensed Practical Nurse to Associate Degree in Nursing (LPN to ADN) transition offered by Bethel College prepares men and women in a Christian atmosphere for careers as registered nurses. Upon successful completion of the one year curriculum, an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is granted. Graduates may apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to earn licensure as registered nurses in Indiana and/or other states through endorsement.
LPN to ADN Transition Plan
The LPN to ADN transition is available on the Bethel College campus or at Grace College in Winona Lake, IN. Acceptance is dependent on available openings. The LPN to ADN plan involves one summer and two semesters of full-time study over a one-year period after prerequisites are met. The transition degree plan consists of a minimum of 72 hours of course work which includes 27 hours of nursing courses, 24 hours of special cognates, 15 hours of general studies courses and credit for Mobility testing. The coursework may be completed part time over more semesters. However, the nursing courses must be completed in four years. A physical examination, immunizations, criminal background check, drug screen and completion of a CPR course are required prior to beginning clinical courses.
