Cara Campbell is associate faculty of psychology in the psychology department. She holds a B.A. degree in psychology and Christian education from Oral Roberts University (1980) and a M.A. degree in counseling psychology from Wheaton College (1982). Cara received her license in Marriage and Family Therapy from the state of Indiana in 1992. She is a clinical member and an approved supervisor with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. She is also a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. Prior to coming to Bethel in 2004, she taught at Oral Roberts University for three years, worked as a marriage and family therapist for 20 years, and spent over nine years supervising and directing counseling programs.
At Bethel College, Cara teaches a variety of classes such as Marriage and Family, Human Sexuality, Crisis Intervention, Abnormal Psychology, and Psychological Measurement. She is the coordinator for the Internship program for the psychology, sociology, criminal justice, and human services departments. One of her favorite activities is mentoring and advising students.
Outside of Bethel, Cara is active in the counseling practice called Beacon of Hope that she founded and manages with her business partner, Sue White, M.A., LMFT, a Bethel College Graduate. Her counseling activities include providing counseling to individuals, couples, and families who are struggling with life issues. Cara is often asked to be a workshop/retreat speaker at local businesses and churches.
At her local church, New Hope UMC in Elkhart, Cara provides leadership for the praise team and serves on the Leadership Team with her husband, Lee Campbell, who is the senior pastor of New Hope.
Cara has been married to Lee for 28 years. They have three children: Cayla is a 2008 graduate of Taylor University Fort Wayne, Chelsey is a sophomore at IUSB in Mishawaka, and Chad is a freshman at Bethel College.
