The Diary of Anne Frank (Winter 2006)

Program

Inspired by the diary of a young Jewish girl, this play tells the story of eight people living in hiding from the Nazis. Together they share a concealed loft in which they every hour of their lives for two years. They remain in silence during the day in order to star concealed as life carries on outside without them. Only in the evening are they able to move about and talk in an attempt to have as normal a life as possible.

Throughout these two years they lived with the reality of daily fears, struggles, emotions and the hope that the end of the war would come soon and they could be free again. Anne, in particular, faces the struggle of dealing with growing up, but through it all brings a sense of determination and honesty to her surroundings through her free spirit.
