The Pre-Professional Skills Tests Praxis I (PPST):
All Bethel students must take and pass the PPST before being admitted to the teacher preparation program. Application is made during the fall or spring of your sophomore year. The PPST includes three general knowledge tests: Reading, Mathematics, & Writing.
| Subject Area | Score |
|---|---|
| Reading | 176 |
| Writing | 172 |
| Mathematics | 175 |
For more information go to www.ets.org/praxis.
The Subject/Specialty Tests - Praxis II:
All teacher candidates are required to take at least one specialty area test in order to receive certification. These tests are generally taken in the spring of
your junior year or the fall of your senior year. Each subject/specialty test is 2 hours in length. While you may want to wait until you have completed all (or most) of your content courses before taking your tests, do not wait until your student teaching semester. Passing scores on these tests is one of the requirements for the Student Teaching Professional Seminar. Also, a delay in receiving your teaching certificate will complicate your job search!
These tests cannot be taken on the computer. The first number of the code indicates in which session it is offered. Register by the following names and code numbers:
