Blaise Pascal High School Mathematics Competition 2007
Bethel College is pleased to announce the second annual Blaise Pascal High School Mathematics Competition on October 20. Here is a brief outline of the day’s events:
- 8:30 am — Check-In, Late Registration
- Refreshments served
- 9:15 am — Opening Remarks
- Dr. Robert Myers, Chair, Mathematical Sciences Department
- Historical Presentation (last year’s presentation: History of Pi)
- 10:00-11:30 — Competition
- 45-question exam
- mathematical history and computational questions
- 11:30-12:30 — Lunch
- Bethel College Dining Commons
- all you can eat
- variety of different foods, including pizza, grilled items, fresh pasta dishes made to order, salad and sandwich bar, and soup
- Department Displays and Demonstrations
- Bethel College Informational Booth
- Bethel College Dining Commons
- 12:30 pm — Awards Ceremony
- Individual Awards (including scholarships)
- Team Awards
- iPod Nano Giveaway
Each school may bring up to 20 students to the competition. A registration fee of $6 per student will cover lunch for all student participants. Additionally, one free lunch will be provided for a supervising teacher from each participating school.
Exams will be scored, and both team and individual awards will be distributed in the early afternoon following lunch. Included among the top awards are scholarships in excess of $2000. Additionally, a random drawing will take place for an iPod Nano®.

Individual overall awards were as follows:
- First Place: Yeojun Chun (St. Joseph High School)
- Second Place: Cheng Han Chung (Clay High School)
- Third Place: Hyung-Joon Tag (Marian High School)
Team awards were as follows:
- First Place: St. Joseph High School
- Second Place: Marian High School
- Third Place: Clay High School
