Nursing Summer Camp

Hybrid courses for the RN-BSN-Completion program started Fall of 2008

Are you a registered nurse looking to prepare for an advanced degree or to increase your marketability? Registered nurses who want complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing can earn a degree in as little as 20 months at Bethel College.

Bethel’s School of Nursing offers a flexible program that allows nurses to continue to work and meet family responsibilities while completing degree requirements. Courses are offered one night a week in a convenient, seven-week format that includes a mix of in class and online class sessions. No logged clinical hours are required.

The program is offered at three locations: the Bethel College campus in Mishawaka; Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana; and Lakeland Healthcare Systems in St. Joseph, Michigan.

Celebrating Culture

On Feb. 5th the entire RN-BSN senior class met as part of their Cultural project in community health nursing to celebrate culture. The class members each investigated a culture and brought a cultural dish from the culture to share in a pot-luck dinner.

Biname Tshiefu and Akila Karanja each presented on cultures in Africa. Biname talked about health care issues in Africa and Akila spoke about health care issues as well and also sang a song in her native language. The class members found both speakers dynamic and the food diverse and delicious.

Bethel College Dedicates Nursing Students from the Largest Class in its History

1st MSN Class presents tree for class gift

The Master of Science Nursing graduating class of 2007 is organizing a tree dedication for 6:30 tonight at the Middleton Hall of Science. The membersTrees of the first msn class-Kathryn Deak, Janice Eigsti, Many Ann Horner, Tina Kendall, Jennifer Layman Young, Elena V. McNutt, Peg Ramey, Penny Robinson, Karen Rose, and Barbara White. The purchase and dedication of the tree was organized by Jennifer Layman Young a member of the class.

Program Director for the Master’s in Nursing Program, Dr. Karon Schwartz, Dean of the School of Nursing, Ruth Davidhizar, Doris Bartlett, Master's in Nursing faculty, and other invited guests will be present to commemorate the success of the first MSN class. The master's in nursing educator class started at Bethel in 2004. All students participated in the pinning with 6 graduating in April, 2007, and the others are in various stages of research and thesis completion.

August 1, 2007

The Master of Nursing Science (MSN) program at Bethel College had a site visit by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) October 30 to November 1, 2007. The program was given a positive evaluation. Final action will be taken by the NLNAC Commission is February 2008.

Press Release - April 2, 2007

The Bethel College Nursing Advisory meeting met at Bethel College on April 2, 2007. Twenty community agency administrators met with faculty and students of the School of Nursing. Twenty-two BSN and MSN nursing students presented their senior research projects.

Larae Woudstra, Alexia Kosier and Andrew Holderread, BSN students, presented a study of male nursing alumni at Bethel College. Jennifer Layman Young presented a study of Intervention for Women with Osteoporosis. Dean Dr. Davidhizar states, “We really appreciate the advice from the Nursing Advisory Committee to improve our programs and the opportunity to share the excellence of our nursing research component with the community.”
