Robert serves as a professor in the youth ministry department at Bethel College. He was born and raised in San Diego, California. He a received his B.A. (Religion/Bible) from Point Loma Nazarene University and his M.A.P.S. (Master Arts Pastoral Studies) from Haggard School of Theology at Azusa Pacific University. He is currently working toward a Ph.D. in Educational Studies at Talbot School of Theology.

Prior to joining the Bethel faculty Robert was involved for fifteen years in full-time youth ministry in churches in California and Colorado. He has a wide variety of ministry experiences in churches whose attendance has ranged in size from one hundred to over three thousand. He has also served in both the associate and senior pastor positions. His experience in pastoral ministry, preaching, education, programming, administration and team development has prepared him to be strategic in effectively equipping and training students for practical leadership and ministry.

Robert is passionate about following Jesus! His desire, as a professor, is to invest his passion and leadership as a catalyst into students’ lives as they are educated, equipped, encouraged and challenged to make a significant and lasting eternal impact in the world for Jesus Christ. He lives to motivate men and woman to be world changes who will make a difference for eternity. He longs to see servant-leaders multiplying the impact of the Gospel of Jesus on a global level as they in turn call out leaders who will continue to impact coming generations for the Kingdom.

Robert has been married to his wonderful wife, Melody, for over 18 years and they have six children whose ages range from 17 to 2 years of age: Rebecca, Jonathan, Maryann, David, Joanna and Angela. Robert views his marriage, family and home as a source of encouragement and inspiration for students as they follow God’s will for their lives in ministry and marriage.
