A home school student finds a home-away-from-home

My youth pastor's wife came to Bethel and loved it. She encouraged me to at least look in to coming to Bethel, as I wanted to go to a Christian school that had nursing. When I visited, I felt very welcomed by the admissions office, the professors in the classes I sat in on, the students I stayed overnight with and the other students I encountered. I came to Bethel because of the strong nursing program, the strong Christian atmosphere and a helpful scholarship.

Home school students well prepared for college

Home schooling taught me to take the initiative for my education/learning and taught me to take my education seriously. My advice for home school students is to make sure you have a lot of meaningful life experiences outside of the home, such as mission trips and family vacations/trips. Have good work habits. Practice taking notes. Read a lot. Learn what you believe, why you believe it, and how to tell someone. Learn how to think, develop critical thinking skills. Work hard. Practice taking the SAT or ACT.

I believe that home schooling helped make me who I am, and I am definitely thankful for my home school experience. I also enjoyed and benefited from going to a public high school my senior year.

A welcoming atmosphere at Bethel

Bethel welcomes home school students, and professors do not treat you differently than any other students. There are many former home school students here. Also, since people are from all different schools and all different places, your peers don’t look down on you because you were home schooled.
