First Year Experience
What is First Year Experience?
Bethel’s First Year Experience is a program designed to help you make a smooth transition from high school to college. All incoming freshmen, during registration, will sign up to be part of a “block”. Each “block” consists of 25-30 students who will enroll in the same two general education classes taken during your first semester. These classes are taught during the same “block” of time on Tuesdays and Thursdays by two professors.
Throughout your orientation week, you will spend time getting to know the other students in your block and getting acquainted with the campus and college life. Once your block classes begin, you will also learn about the academic expectations of college, gain valuable writing, speaking, critical thinking and research skills and experience the integration of faith and learning.
If you are transferring to Bethel from another college, although you will not be taking block classes, you will still participate in the First Year Experience program. You will be part of a group of other transfer students whom you will spend time with during orientation week, getting acquainted with Bethel College.
