2007 Award Recipients
Bethel College proudly recognizes the accomplishments of two outstanding individuals who give selflessly for the betterment of community, family, church and their profession.
Sam Davenport, Alumnus of the Year
“Generous Servant” is a fitting term to describe Sam Davenport, Alumnus of the Year for 2007. Sam (‘77) has dedicated his time and talents to Bethel College by serving as treasurer of the board of trustees and chairman of the alumni board. He continues to be a regular volunteer at alumni-sponsored events.
Sam is a partner at McGladrey & Pullen, LLP, where he has worked since his graduation from Bethel with a degree in accounting.
At his church, Sam is the deacon of finance and is highly involved in the music ministry. He also serves on the board of Eurasian Ministries which provides support to a ministry training college in the former Soviet Union.
We honor Sam for his outstanding service to his vocation, Bethel College and ministries here and abroad.
Sue Morey, R.N., M.S., Honorary Alumnae
Our Honorary Alumnae for 2007, Mrs. Sue Morey, R.N., M.S., has been a distinguished member of the Bethel College board of trustees, and an avid supporter of the school’s programs. Following her appointment to the trustee board in 1998, Sue chaired its student development committee. She also shared her wisdom with the Class of 2006 as one of its commencement speakers.
Sue has participated in several Bethel Task force teams, working alongside students and encouraging them in their mission goals. She is also a tireless volunteer for many community organizations, such as The Salvation Army and the Linus Project.
We honor Sue for her dynamic relationship with Bethel College and welcome her into the ranks of Bethel alumni.
