Come enjoy the best of both worlds!

Embrace and escape winter at the Bethel College Winter Escape – best of both worlds family celebration. Enjoy the outdoor winter wonderland including sleigh rides, sledding and ice sculpting demonstrations. Or, warm up with fun and friends in a tropical heat wave in Goodman Gym, enjoying a Wii tournament, Euchre and more! Spend the weekend with your Bethel family and be refreshed by the best of both worlds!

Register online and then check in at the registration table in the Wiekamp Athletic Center lobby on February 20.

Friday

  1. 10 a.m. Heritage Chapel Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center - Auditorium Come relive Bethel chapel through the decades
  2. 6:30 p.m. Pilot Pageant Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center - AuditoriumExperience an evening of fun, featuring student videos based on a given theme and the selection of student representatives to the Pilot Court.

Saturday

  1. 9:30 – 11 a.m. Winter Escape Snack Shack Goodman Gymnasium - Lobby Purchase pastries and beverages to warm you on the inside!
  2. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Euchre Tournament Everest-Rohrer - Weaver Rotunda Avoid tipping your hand at the Euchre Tournament. Register online.

    Wii Tournament Wiekamp Athletic Center - Room 101 Prove your Wii expertise and win it all at the Wii Tournament featuring Wii Sports Resort and Mario Cart. Register online.
  3. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.Indoor Activities Goodman Gymnasium Bounce away the day on inflatable toys!
    Enjoy the creations of a balloon twisting professional!
    Color your way to victory during the coloring contest!
    Make a treasure of your own with bottled sand art!
    Show your artistic side and fashion your own sea shell necklace!

    Take a load off and enjoy story time in Mae’s Corner! Bowen Library Putt your way through the stacks with miniature golf! Bowen Library
    Outdoor Winter Wonderland
    Outdoors (activities are weather dependent) Relax on a horse-drawn sleigh or carriage ride!
    Observe the frozen beauty and elegance of ice sculpting in progress!

    Sled the slopes … ‘er, hills! Bring your own sled.

    Build a snowman worthy to be called “Frosty” in the snowman building contest!

    Spread your wings and bring heaven down to earth during the snow angel contest.
  4. 11 – 11:50 a.m. Class Without a Quiz Have fun learning without a fee or an exam!

    Birds of Prey CLASS CANCELLED The falcon’s escaped!!! Dining Commons lower level - Room 101 Ever wonder how to hunt with a bird of prey? Here’s your chance to learn! The art of falconry will be explained in which the hunter’s weapon of choice isn’t a gun or bow. It’s a falcon! See a falcon up close and personal as well as a variety of falconry equipment.   5. 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. SET, PASS, DIG, KILL with Family Volleyball Wiekamp Athletic Center - Gates Gymnasium
  6. 11:00 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday Brunch Dining Commons $5 Watch the Winter Olympics while you enjoy this weekly campus tradition. Omelet bar, assorted breakfast fare, baked pasta, pulled pork sandwiches, salad bar, assorted desserts
  7. 12 – 2 p.m. Open Dorms – take this opportunity to check out the specially decorated residence facilities. Specific buildings will be announced on day of event.
  8. 12 – 3 p.m. Starfish Project Jewelry Sale Wiekamp Athletic Center - Lobby Come support the worthy efforts of several Bethel alumni. Check out their story
  9. 2 p.m. Women’s Basketball - Bethel vs. St. Francis Wiekamp Athletic Center - Gates Gymnasium Cheer on the Lady Pilots basketball team as they square off against the
    Lady Cougars.

    Half Time: See who conquered all to win the Euchre, Wii and coloring contests.
  10. 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Soup and Salad Supper Dining Commons A terrific deal the whole family can enjoy!

  11. 7 p.m. Escape to Broadway Everest-Rohrer Auditorium Enjoy an evening of musical theater, featuring Bethelalumni Jeff Cramer, ’01; Heidi Ferris, ’01; Jennie Sophia Grunseth, ’02; and Shawn Holtgren, ’95, ’97. Singing songs from shows including Ragtime, Into the Woods, West Side Story and the Secret Garden, these talented artists will be sure to warm the night.
