The hustle and bustle of the past few weeks has been amazing, stressful, interesting, rough, stimulating, challenging, entertaining, remarkable, thrilling, moving, and FUN. There are only a handful days left here and then its time for finals! After that, its back home for me. It’s not smooth sailing from here on out. I’ve still got much to do before my semester is up. During the past few weeks I’ve really been working my tail off to stay on track of everything, and it is paying off. I’m trying my best to learn as much as my brain will hold, and get the best grade I can! Yes I know grades aren’t everything but its a great challenge to see how much of the info thrown at me by my teachers atcually stays in my head. For most of the year, I havn’t really been losing sleep to do my assignments, until this week! The soccer team had a really busy weekend traveling to Indy and Chicago, so I couldnt use my usual study times. Instead, when we finally arrived back from Chicago at 11:50PM on Sunday night, THEN I had to start working on everything… needless to say, I had a small amount of sleep.

I’m not going to say it’s my fault that i got sick this week, but I’m not not going to say it wasn’t. I think I was pushing the envelope a little bit with the way I’ve been dressing lately, and since the past week was so nice I’ve been dressing like its summer all the time. However, it isn’t summer. the weather has been dipping a little bit this week, and as a result, my poor choice in attire has left me to catch a cold.I’ve been wearing shorts and a t-shirt when I should be wearing a jacket! But oh well. I’ll get better soon.

Lately I’ve been having a little trouble in the faith department, really trying to get to the nitty gritty stuff, most of all, what I truly believe. I’m really lucky to be at a place with so many amazing people around to answer my questions. I have made several friends that can really help me get on the right track instead of veering off into where I shouldn’t. Most of all, the staff here are very helpful when it comes to questions about God, namely, Dr. Bob, who is just so very passionate and willing to help others. As much as one might try to feel alone at Bethel, its impossible! The community here is just so giving and really looks to help you grow in your faith, as well as in study!

**International Chapel/Fashion Show next week! (I’ll be repping Canada!)

It would seem like I just enjoy making small talk when I’m constantly talking about the weather, but WOW! I have never in my life seen a March become so nice.. and stay that way! its been beautiful outside day after day and I for one can’t get enough of it! I spent almost my whole weekend outside playing soccer (and working on my tan). It’s ridiculous, it’s like mother nature decided to skip a whole season!

It’s tearing me apart that I have to be stuck in the library studying for all of these exams coming up. I’d rather be sitting by a pool drinking a nice fruity drink! BUT that’s not too far away. This semester has been going by really quickly and there are only 4 more weeks left! Final exams are done around April 27th. So that means the following weekend I’m heading back to Canada! (Don’t worry I’m not going THAT far up north.. the weather is still about the same in Ottawa as it is here in the summer).

Take Care!… and wear some sun block! Hahaha

Wow, the weather is getting REALLY nice! And you know what that means? Everybody wants to be outside!

Everybody’s packing up their winter gear, and bringing out the shorts and flip-flops!

As for myself, I can’t get enough of the outdoor life right now! I stepped outside my house to go eat at the DC, but I had to turn back. Instead, I changed my clothes and went for a run! All the sports teams are having their practices outside now, including out soccer team. It’s great to put on some cleats and play on real grass instead of staying inside the gyms.

Just a word of Caution!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any student who loves being outside, BEWARE!

Remember to do your homework before you spend all your time outside! My professor explained to my class that as it heats up outside, grades start dropping! I’ve already spent two days out in the sun, and I forgot to do my stats homework! :O

So just be careful, the sun can make you do crazy things! Oh, and wear sunscreen, you have all summer to get your JWOWW on!

I recently got back from my Spring Break in Atlanta! I thought I’d share with you a quick story about one of my favorite parts.

First of all, the teammate that I stayed with has VERY Brazilian parents, so right away I knew I had to brush up on my Portuguese because I was going to be surrounded by Brazilians. (for those who don’t know, I speak some Portuguese, but its not NEARLY perfect) Anyways on Sunday, we went to this Brazilian church, I think it was named Agape (Which is Gods love). The whole service was in Portuguese, and the pastor was really enthusiastic and spoke quickly at times, so I needed Lucas to translate for me. But when it was time for one this one lady to speak, I told lucas to stop translating. I was understanding everything she said, it was pretty cool. I really enjoyed the message I got from the service. That whole week ended up being a nice time to have some deep thoughts about everything, God, life, etc. and I feel like it brought me closer to God.

I thought I’d throw in this video Lucas showed me, it’s a 9-year-old Brazilian using his amazing God given voice to praise his name: http://tinyurl.com/87738f2 Just wait till you get to the end, he’s got talent!

So a BIG shout out to Lucas for letting me come to ATL with him! Thanks Bro!

Hey Hey,

So first thing is first…

CONGRATULATIONS TO MY ROOMMATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He just got engaged to his girlfriend over this passed weekend, and it was a very well planned out proposal. He took his girlfriend out to dinner on Sunday night, and then decided to take a spontaneous trip to the river walk at night, where he then surprised her with a gazebo with over 100 candles lit and flowers followed by a short speech of reasons why he loved her. Then, he pulled the classic gentleman move and dropped down on one knee, and popped the question. After she said yes, myself and a few of his other close friends jumped out of the bushes and applauded! It was pretty beautiful.

Heres a cute little recap: http://vimeo.com/36673381

So Valentines Day just passed, and although its been my first V-Day being single in about four years, it was actually a pretty good day! I had a great friend date with one of my best friends, (and I got her imaginary flowers too!). It was just a fun night in the DC with Lady and the Tramp on the big screen, and heart cookies to decorate!

Oh and soccer update: Bethel took two teams to the futsal tournement at Taylor U and both teams went undefeated and when the finals were Bethel vs. Bethel, we decided to leave! We rock!

Yes, yes, I quoted Rebecca Black in my title, but ANYWHO. . .

Today is Friday, and I’m feelin’ good! I woke up super early to go to the DC right when it opened, just so I could eat and cram for my exam in Old Testament class. I actually got lots done, and my 9am I was ready to Ace it!

So I went to class and Dr. Bob, being the coolest professor on the planet, made the exam into a partner test. So I got to work with Lucas and we did awesome! Then after class Chapel was pretty interesting, with stories and songs from our Kenyan guests, everyone was dancing and having fun. I actually learned more about sponsoring children then I had previously known! As soon as i get a job, I would love to sponsor one. OH! OH! I just found out my second class today is cancelled!

Great start to the weekend for sure!

So I’ve been surprised lately with something at the Dining Commons, and it isn’t the food! (Although today we had fruit smoothies and they were AWESOME, I had about 6 cups!)

I’m a pretty friendly guy, so I love chatting it up with people. I’ve been talking to a lot of the staff in the DC because I feel like they have so many students just walk by them to get food but they never talk to them. In reality they’re really nice and they keep getting friendlier and friendlier!

There is Sarah the chef who always has a smile on her face, she always tells me stories of when she goes up to Canada! And shes super nice when it comes to making special orders when you don’t like some of the ingredients like olives or bamboo shoots. She even secretly gives me bigger portions of my favorite foods when I ask!

Then theres Sheila, the lady who swipes the cards. Shes really nice too, and shes lucky enough to go to Hawaii with her family so she wont be around for the next few weeks. I might miss her because I tend to forget my swipe card a lot and shes nice enough to type in my I.D number and let me enter. Not everyone lets you do this! But Sheila is just that nice!

All I’m saying is I found out that the DC does not have robots that serve us food, they’re actual people with interesting life stories! I’m glad I’ve been getting to know them!

Coming from Canada, I’ve celebrated black history month, but I never even heard about Martin Luther King Day as a holiday. It was really cool how Bethel’s chapel service that day was dedicated to MLK, there were poems, speeches and songs as well as a rap performed which talked about slavery and troubles that African Americans went through in America. I even took the quiz at the DC (a.k.a dinning commons) and I was surprised about how much of the “I have a dream” speech I knew. Doctor Bob also showed our class how in Dr. King’s speech, there were quotes right out of the Bible, which was pretty cool because I never knew that besides fighting for equality, he was also a man of Christ! Until next time… -Zak
