Bethel College Blood Drive
Thursday we had the fall blood drive at Bethel College. The Red Cross comes in to Bethel at least once a semester so students can donate blood. It is incredible to see how many students and faculty come out and donate their blood as well as time. This isn’t like other blood drives though, in my eyes. This is more of an event at Bethel. Students make this a fun time as best as they can with a needle stuck into their arm.
Friends come out to the blood drive together and some make it a competition. Some see who can donate their unit of blood fastest, while others see which of their friends will be the ones to pass out. The softball team does a wonderful job donating their time to help work the blood drive. No they aren’t the ones actually extracting out blood from out bodies (thank the good Lord) but they will bring you any drink possible, as well as snacks to help you stay away from that light head feeling. It is awesome to see the selflessness of the students at Bethel College. Even people who know that they are going to feel sick or woozy after their donation are still willing to help out for a cause that is greater than themselves.
Now all we can do is wait around until the spring to donate once again. But you can rest assured that I will beat my time from this blood drive. Some of my friends beat my time, but there is no doubt that I will be training hard to make sure that does not happen again. Keep an eye out for the next donation and come out to support the Red Cross as well as a pretty good time at Bethel College. Go Pilots!
