Coming Back From Breaks
Everybody loves breaks! This year it seemed like everyone I talked to was waaaaaaay ready for fall break. I know I was! After a couple midterms, countless papers, and multiple study-into-the-unglodly-hours-of-the-morning study sessions, I began to think fall break would never come! It was GREAT going home and seeing my friends and my ever expanding family.
Over fall break I helped my sister with her house (by help, I more so mean that I showed up after they had finished working to entertain them), helped my mom prepare for the baby (That’s right! I’m soon to be the proud big sister to baby number 11, baby Emily!), and I even got homework done (if sitting with friends with my paper opened on Microsoft counts)!
Now I’m sitting here in my dorm after the whirlwind of the past four days and I remember the awkwardness of the day you come home from break. Allow me to explain:
First, I always come back at a weird time. Either my roommates aren’t back yet or they are but they left again to get food, do homework, or see friends. Then I have to try to figure out what to do with my awkward self in the limbo between lunch time and dinner time.
Second, you know there are people back on campus, but it’s next to impossible to locate any of them! Even though all your friends have updated their Facebook accounts to say they’re back at Bethel. Where in the world do they go off to!?
Third, Sure, there’s tons to do on campus, but Acorn and Sufficient are always first and second socializing venues, so when they’re not open, it difficult to remember how you spend your time because everything inevitably starts with a bunch of random people agreeing on something at Acorn or Sufficient.
Finally, you have to do all the homework you avoided over break. Sure, you’ve got four free days but who goes home and actually completes homework?… or maybe that’s just me…
Overall, I adored going home and having a break from the craziness of school. It’s absolutely nuts to think that we’re half way through the school year now! I guess it’s just a countdown to finals from here.
