Small World
Finding a seat in chapel was a little difficult this morning but some of the girls on my floor and in my block waved me and my boyfriend over to sit next to them. I sat down next to my suite-mate and proceeded to enjoy worshiping God with the rest of the chapel as the chapel band began to lead. As worship finished, our speaker was introduced. “He grew up in Michigan and moved to Hawaii then China to follow God’s call.” All of the sudden I hear my suite-mate saying, “I think I know him!” Now let me interject a tad bit of information that might be helpful…my lovely suite-mate is from the island of Hawaii. Small world.
Another similar situation happened when my sister who recently graduated from the University of Illinois had a party. At this party, she discovered that her friend was from Romania. This friend has a brother who teaches at a small Christian college in northern Indiana. This small Christian college is Bethel and this brother happened to be my teacher at the time! Small world.
Situations like this seem to happen a lot here at Bethel. When I hear about things like this happening it makes me realize that my perspective is so small. The world is so big, yet God has set up for certain people to be here at a certain time so that they may impact each other’s lives. God has a reason for me to be here. God might have a reason for you to be here. God’s plan is so wonderful and I can’t wait to see how my life can be a part of it. Lord, make me a part of your plan and align my will with yours.
Bethel, thank you for being a gathering place where God’s will may be done.
