Finals week/Christmas is coming!
The two things on my mind (as well as many other students, I’m sure…) are finals and Christmastime.
Finals- Ahh! The busiest, most stressful time of the year is somehow also becoming the most enjoyable to me. Strange as it may (or may not) seem, I really love reflecting on what I’ve learned in each class. Many of my final papers fit into this format.
So, for instance, in interpersonal communication, my final reflection paper encompasses everything I’ve learned throughout the semester. I was asked to fill seven pages on the subject. At first this posed itself as a problem. I wondered how I could possibly fill a 7-page paper about reflection on one class. As I began to write, however, the words seemed to just pour out of my mind. I got permission to work a bit outside of the parameters of the paper and write it in letter format (flexibility: a nice part of many communication classes).
It was then that I realized just how much I’d learned. I’ve read, heard, and applied many different pieces of information from class into real-life everyday situations. And this applies to my classes across the board. I don’t mean to brag on the communication department too much, but it really is so helpful and relevant. I LOVE my classes.
I have two finals left as well as a few papers to finish up. Studying for the tests themselves is a bit less enjoyable than the papers for me, as I prefer writing to memorization, but it’s okay!
Christmas- In the meantime, there is also Christmastime festivities! I hope to plan a small Christmas party of sorts for my closest friends at Bethel. I also went Christmas shopping today, finishing up buying wrapping supplies as well as a couple strands of lights to decorate the room with. (Late, I know, but that’s okay!)
Overall, things have been going great. It’s always fun to get to this point in the school year when things are winding down, people are enjoying their friendships with extra fellowship time during finals week (if they are done studying, of course!) Looking forward to seeing what the next week has in store!
God bless,
Daniel
