MLK Day
Coming from Canada, I’ve celebrated black history month, but I never even heard about Martin Luther King Day as a holiday. It was really cool how Bethel’s chapel service that day was dedicated to MLK, there were poems, speeches and songs as well as a rap performed which talked about slavery and troubles that African Americans went through in America. I even took the quiz at the DC (a.k.a dinning commons) and I was surprised about how much of the “I have a dream” speech I knew. Doctor Bob also showed our class how in Dr. King’s speech, there were quotes right out of the Bible, which was pretty cool because I never knew that besides fighting for equality, he was also a man of Christ!
