It’s OK to be SINGLE

“Ring by spring” is a pretty popular saying around Christian campuses, especially Bethel.

So what about the rest of us? What about Valentine’s day? Upon coming to campus we were advised to avoid “freshman dating season.” That wasn’t to discourage us from being friends with the opposite gender but advice to follow so that we could get into the swing of things before we start a committed relationship. My small group leader sent out an email to all of us ladies, some of us engaged, in a relationship, and the rest single, to remind us that our one true Love is Jesus Christ and our hearts should swoon for Him first.

I enjoyed having a single Valentine’s day :) A few of the girls on my floor made valentines for all of us. It was really cute!

So just because you go to a Christian school doesn’t mean you’ll find “the one” here. And there’s no need to rush anything. There are plenty of seniors on campus who are happy to be single; yes, God has a plan for them. And not every guy or girl who flirts with you means that they are interested. My advice: guard your heart and just work on being friends.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
