Strength for Today and Bright Hope for Tomorrow

What a crazy school year this has been.  First semester being abroad, and then returning and taking the most insane class load I’ve ever had (22ish credit hours)… it has certainly been a lesson on trusting.  But you know what?  When I look back over this year, the thing that sticks out to me is the incredible faithfulness of our God.  Through every moment, good and bad, of this year, He has stood by me and guided me.  I have seen such growth in myself and experienced such freedom.  After next week, I will have made it through the most difficult semester of my college career up to this point (and in the foreseeable future).  I can say with %100 certainty that if it hadn’t been for Jesus and His faithfulness, I never would have even made it to midterms.

So if I could some up my entire junior year at Bethel College in one word: Faithfulness.  He has indeed shown himself to be faithful in every way.  And when it comes down to it, that is how I want to be able to describe each year as they come to a close.

Great is Thy Faithfulness

Chisholm/Runyun

  • “Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
    There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
    Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
    As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

    “Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
    Morning by morning new mercies I see;
    All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
    “Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!

    Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
    Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
    Join with all nature in manifold witness
    To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

    Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
    Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
    Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
    Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
