Sign Language Interpreting

Bethel College seeks to fill full-time faculty position for the Sign Language Interpreting program to begin Fall 2013. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses of American Sign Language, team teaching interpreting courses, student recruitment, public relations, assessment, and involvement in the college community. Faculty members are also expected to maintain active scholarship and participate in professional development activities.
Qualifications
M.A. required, Ph.D. preferred, in the area of education, linguistics, deafness, sign language interpreting or related field. ASLTA certification required, provisional or working towards certification. Experience teaching ASL at the post-secondary level preferred.
Successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to Christian liberal studies and working in a bicultural environment as well as skill in curriculum development and evaluation of student language skills. He or she will support multicultural competence initiatives and involvement in the d/Deaf community. All faculty are expected to exhibit a vibrant Christian faith and relevance of faith commitments to their disciplines and professions. While Bethel College is affiliated with the Missionary Church, its faculty members encompass a variety of Christian denominations;
