It’s summertime and that means it’s time for Bethel gatherings! We are excited to be hosting gatherings in the following places. Contact us at alumni@BethelCollege.edu for additional information. Come out and join us if you can!

Save the date for the alumni tennis match, baseball reunion and softball reunion on Sept. 15, as well as the athletic hall of fame induction ceremony on Sept. 16 and men’s soccer reunion on Sept. 22.

	Remembering Dr. Carpenter
	Eugene Carpenter Ph.D., distinguished professor of Old Testament and scholar-in-residence, drowned on July 2, 2012, during a fishing outing in Michigan. He was 69 years old. Read about his life and share your memories of Dr. Carpenter.

	Volunteers Needed for Freshman Move-In-Day
	Freshman move-in day is Saturday, Aug. 25, and we are in need of 30 volunteers to host the alumni association hospitality tables in three residence halls. Come help welcome the newest class to Bethel. Click here to learn more and sign up.

	Alumna Creates CommUNITY through Gardens
	Since planting the first seeds of a community garden four years ago, Sara (Uzelac ‘09) Stewart has cultivated much more than cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes. After only two growing seasons, the short-term project quickly blossomed into a full-blown nonprofit organization.

	Changing the World through Skateboarding
	Peter Metzger (’10) is using his passion for skateboarding to “help people: change the world.” This is the mission for Envision Skate Collective, an organization started by Metzger that sells hand-crafted skateboards and then gives 50 percent of net profits to charitable organizations.

	Bethel Breaks Ground on Bookstore Expansion
	On May 16, Bethel broke ground on a $1.1 million bookstore expansion, which will include the campus coffeehouse, Sufficient Grounds. Construction is expected to be completed in Nov. 2012.

	Students Labor for Neighbors
	For the past three years, about 60 students and staff members have donated their time and energy to serve in the community during the annual voluntary service event “Labor for Your Neighbor.” Find out how Bethel students made a lasting impact on the community.
