Revival at Bethel

In case you haven’t heard, we’ve experienced a move of God on our campus in the last week! It started with a marathon chapel service on Wednesday, February 16, and the effect is still being seen as students, faculty and staff respond to the Holy Spirit.

We’ve shared a lot about this on Facebook and Twitter, but yesterday (February 21) I sat down with Dennis Engbrecht, Ph.D., senior vice president, and asked him to share his thoughts on video. For those of you who have heard bits and pieces of information but still aren’t sure what has happened, this will give you a summary of events that will provide some context to the other stories you are hearing online and in person.

At the end of this post are several links that will give you more information about these events. We will continue to update this post with new links as we see more testimonials and reactions being published online, so be sure to bookmark this page and check back for more information.

Here is Dr. Engbrecht’s video message:

My daughter is a Sophomore at Bethel College. I was on Facebook the day this took place and had clicked on the live feed and was trying to listen to it. I was at work and couldn’t continue and thought I would listen the next day. But, then I wasn’t able to access it. My daughter called me that afternoon and told me what had taken place. She said she and her roommate went to the alter that day and stood for 2 1/2 hrs. and cried. Her dad left us when she was 8 years old. He hasn’t been apart of her life since she was 9 y/o and hasn’t even seen him, but one time since she was about 16 y/o which was his choice. I have always asked her if she wanted to call him, but she doesn’t know what to say to him. He lives out of state and we don’t even know where he lives. After this revival she decided to call her dad. She spoke to his wife or whoever she is and left a message for her to have her dad please call her. He hasn’t called her back and I don’t see him doing that, but for her to even reach out and have the strength to call him was sparked from this revival. Please pray that God will touch his heart and have him reach out to his daughter.
Sunday at our church she was home and also went to the altar after our Pastor had preached and asked if the message was for you and you wanted to change anything about your attitude. She came forward and people prayed for her. This has affected my daughter and myself and I have pasted this onto to many others. I listened to Jeff Klings’ message and was very touched by it also. It would be awesome to have God speak to me like he did Jeff.
I just Praise God for reaching out to our children and touching them so strongly that day. I will continue to pray and pass this onto to as many will listen to me.

Thanks so much for commenting and sharing the story of your daughter. I pray that God will bring healing in this situation! Thanks also for spreading the word about what God is doing – we hope it will spread to other campuses and communities!

I work at a major campus and I post these on my Facebook status and hope that it will spread. Almost everyone from my church is also on facebook too.
