Students Lobby for State Aid

On February 25, Greg Anderson, Honey Storlie, Ian Lightcap and Joy Laurent traveled to Indianapolis to lobby for state aid to independent colleges. Joining them were over 100 students from twelve different independent colleges. The event was sponsored by the Independent Colleges of Indiana organization.

The state government is currently creating a new budget that will be in effect for the next two years. Legislators had proposed a 16% cut in the maximum amount of state aid given to students at independent colleges. Currently, the House has proposed a cut of two percent and has passed the budget on to the Senate where it will be revised.

Please contact your local representative and senator to thank them for the work they are doing. Also, let them know that you would like to see the state aid for independent colleges remain at its current level.
