Works of Local Artist, Bethel Professor on Exhibit

Bethel College professor and local artist David Harmon has thirteen paintings on exhibit at Gallery 107 in Three Oaks, Michigan through the month of June. The paintings depict aquatic scenes from numerous viewpoints, from calm waters to crashing waves.

Painting seascapes since the 1980s, Harmon says he has developed an affinity for the Great Lakes and world oceans, using them as themes in his bold, sometimes intensely colored art. A professor of art at Bethel College, Mishawaka, IN since 1990, Harmon is spending the summer at the Byrdcliffe Art Colony in Woodstock, New York. He also has served as artist-in-residence at the Montana Artist Refuge, Basin, Montana; and the Jentel Foundation, in Sheridan, Wyoming.

Born in St. Louis, MO, Harmon received his master of fine arts degree in painting from Pennsylvania State University in 1982 and his bachelor of fine arts degree in painting from Webster University, St. Louis, in 1977.

Gallery 107 is located behind the Three Oaks Post Office in the Acorn Theater building of the Featherbone Factory in Three Oaks, MI. The gallery is open one hour prior to every Acorn Theater live performance. For show times, call the gallery at 269-756-3879 or visit www.acorntheater.com.
