November 19, 2004
The Bethel College Art Department will host an exhibition of contemporary clay works by artist Rebecca Coffman, MFA, in the Weaver Art Gallery from October 1-25, 2004. In a statement from the artist, Coffman writes that her major desire is "to capture the liveliness of the raw clay and reflect it in a fired vessel form and surface."
Coffman has been working with ceramics and painting since receiving her bachelor in fine arts degree from Hardin-Simmons University in 1982. She went on to earn her master's degree from Texas Tech University. Coffman has worked as an art professor at several universities as well as led art history tours to Italy, France and Spain.
The Weaver Art Gallery is located off of the Great Hall in the southeast corner of the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center on the campus of Bethel College. Call the Art Center at (574) 257-2670 for more information or directions.
