Finalists for South Bend Community School Corporation "Teacher of the Year"

Three Bethel College graduates have been nominated by their colleagues for the prestigious title of "Teacher of the Year" for the South Bend School Corporation. April Liechty, a 2001 Bethel graduate, is a teacher at the Marquette Primary Center. Rachel Saunders, a 2000 Bethel graduate, was nominated by her fellow teachers at the Kennedy Academy. Janelle Walter, a 1996 Bethel graduate, teaches at the Jackson Intermediate Center. Together, these three women have inspired and motivated their students, creating an enriching classroom setting where students can come to learn, grow and become successful learners for the future. Each of these three women will be submitting a portfolio to continue the process towards the naming of the 2004-2005 South Bend School Corporation "Teacher of the Year." Bethel College is tremendously proud of all three graduates for their success in their respective teaching fields. These three women exemplify the qualities, characteristics and values that Bethel College recognizes as fundamental components for the teaching profession.
Bethel College is an accredited Christian college of the arts and sciences offering associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees in more than 50 areas of study. The current enrollment of 1,964 includes students from 34 states, 19 countries, more than 20 denominational affiliations and 16 percent from culturally diverse backgrounds. Scholarships are available based upon a variety of factors including academic achievement, talent in the arts or athletics, ethnicity and church affiliation. The Bethel campus is situated on 75 beautifully wooded acres in Mishawaka, Indiana.
