Bethel College Hires New Employees

Dr. Peter L. McCown, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Bethel College, Mishawaka, Indiana, announces the following appointments and promotions:

Erin Wagler, Fort Wayne, IN, has been appointed to the position of Director of Public Relations. Most recently, Wagler served as a consultant to nonprofit organizations at Mission Enablers, a company in Fort Wayne, IN, where she developed marketing communications and branding plans and coached nonprofit executive directors and CEOs. Previously, Wagler worked in public relations at the Institute for Organizational Effectiveness in Fort Wayne, IN; Eagle Village, Inc. in Hersey, MI and WBCL Radio Network in Fort Wayne, IN. She holds a bachelor's in public relations from Taylor University - Fort Wayne, IN and a master's in public relations from Ball State University - Muncie, IN.

Dr. Terry Linhart, Wakarusa, IN, has been promoted to Chair of the Religion and Philosophy Department. Since 2001, Linhart has provided leadership to the college in his role as Director and Assistant Professor of Youth Ministry. He holds a bachelor's degree in music theory/composition from Taylor University, a master's degree in educational ministry from Huntington College and a doctorate in curriculum studies from Purdue University.

The focus of his dissertation was on the curricular nature of short-term mission trips in youth ministry groups.

Dr. Eugene Carpenter, South Bend, IN, has taken the position of Scholar in Residence. Since 1997, Carpenter has been the Chair of the Religion and Philosophy Department and a professor of Old Testament, Hebrew and Theology. He has also served as the Director of The Master's of Theological Studies and the Master's of Ministry. He holds a bachelor's degree in English literature from Bethel College, a bachelor's degree in accounting from University of Kentucky College of Business and Economics, a Master's of Divinity degree from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminaries, Elkhart, IN and a doctorate in languages and Old Testament from Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA.

Bethel College is an accredited Christian college of the arts and sciences offering associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees in more than 50 areas of study. The current enrollment of 1,964 includes students from 34 states, 19 countries, more than 20 denominational affiliations and 16 percent from culturally diverse backgrounds.
