Thirty-five new members were inducted into the local chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Sunday, April 2, 2005 in ceremonies held at St. Mary's College, South Bend, Indiana. The Nu Omicron-At-Large Chapter is sponsored by the baccalaureate nursing schools of Bethel College, Mishawaka; Goshen College, Goshen; and St. Mary's College, Notre Dame.
Sigma Theta Tau International is an organization of nurse leaders, scholars and researchers, with offices in the Virginia Henderson International Nursing Library located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The honor society, founded at Indiana University in 1922, has over 356 chapters at more than 400 colleges and universities in the United States of America, Canada, Taiwan, South Korea, and Australia. Worldwide membership is more than 220,000.
Membership in the society is awarded to bachelor's, master's, and doctoral nursing candidates who demonstrate high scholastic achievement and graduates of nursing programs who have made outstanding contributions to nursing. Sigma Theta Tau encourages and actively supports further professional development and promotes nursing scholarship, leadership, creativity, and commitment to nursing among its members. New members in the Nu Omicron-At-Large Chapter include:

The keynote speaker was: Chet Peachey, RN, MS, CNA, who is currently an adjunct faculty member at Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana. Peachey was previously Vice President of Patient Care Services at Oaklawn Hospital, Goshen, Indiana. He is also a Corporate Management Team Member at Oaklawn Hospital and an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University at South Bend. The meeting was conducted by President, Giny Lonser, faculty at Bethel College.
