Marvin Bartel Exhibits Ceramics Collection

Marvin Bartel is exhibiting Ceramics featuring pottery, platters, sculpture, and tables in the Weaver Gallery, Bethel College, Mishawaka, September 9, until September 28. The public is invited to an Opening Reception 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Sept., 9. The Weaver Gallery is in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center on the Bethel campus. Hours will be 11 to 3 Monday through Friday. The display includes 48 pieces produced in Bartel's studio located in an oak forest on the southeast side of Goshen. The stoneware vase shown here is titled Acorn Vase. It was made in 2005. It is 22.75 inches high. This vase is decorated with acorns and white oak leaves. Several major retrospective works are being shown along with a number of recent works. Bartel is Emeritus Professor of Art, Goshen College, where he taught courses in ceramics, art education, and photography from 1970 to 2002. Two of the pieces in the exhibit were produced at Bethel in May, 2005, while Bartel was adjunct instructor of Ceramics at Bethel College.
