Bethel College has recently opened a satellite campus in the south side of Elkhart to accommodate the needs of adult commuter students in the area. Classes began at this location earlier this fall. On Thursday, October 27, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools gave Bethel its approval to designate the satellite location as an official Bethel College campus.
Currently, students attending the Elkhart campus can take classes for the Organizational Management degree completion program and the Bible and Ministry program for completion of a Bible certificate.
Bethel College Dean of Adult Services John Mow believes the Elkhart campus is an answer to pressing problems. Many classrooms at the main campus are full for adult and traditional classes and there are many adult students who travel long distances.
"We knew three years from now we just wouldn't be able to accommodate any more growth in the Adult Programs on [the Mishawaka] campus," says Mow. "Therefore, the new Elkhart campus will help solve this problem." The Adult Services administration plans to expand the program into larger quarters in coming years.
The Bethel College Center for Adult and Professional Studies Elkhart Campus is located at 815 Waterbury Park Drive in the Waterbury Park office complex. For more information on adult student classes and degree programs call 574.257.3350.
