Bethel College, Associate Professor of Music, Dr. Derrick A. Pennix presents a recital of American Art Song titled "The African American Heritage" on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. This recital offers a wide variety of musical styles including ragtime, opera, Tin Pan Alley, and modern classical. Featured composers include: William Grant Still, Adolphus Hailstork, Pulitzer Prize winner George Walker, John Rosamund Johnson, and Scott Joplin. Joining Dr. Pennix is Dr. Robert Rhein on piano, Dr. Mitzi Westra (mezzo-soprano), and Regina Falker (soprano). This event is free and open to the public. The recital takes place on the campus of Bethel College in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Auditorium, 1001 W. McKinley Ave., Mishawaka IN.
