The Bethel College Concert Choir performed seven concerts in Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa while on tour this summer. The choir sang numbers such as Freedom Come, He Loved Me, Amen, We Are Not Ashamed, Chichester Psalms and Beethoven's Hallelujah while performing in churches. "Amen was the most exciting song to perform because it tells the whole story of Jesus Christ, from birth to death and resurrection," says Rachel Erdel, a senior with the Bethel College Concert Choir.
Bethel College Choir Director Robert N. Ham says that for the students who travel with the concert choir, the tour affords a variety of relationship-building activities in addition to ministry opportunities. While traveling, the choir traditionally hosts a Euchre tournament (for those who play) and goes bowling for laughs and fun. This summer the concert choir tour members also visited Mount Rushmore and, for the first time ever, performed at a wedding. Kendra (Miller) Blackwood, Bethel Concert Choir alum, was wed to Justin Blackwood May 6 in Clarinda, Iowa and invited the Bethel Concert Choir to perform.
