Bethel College graduate and former basketball player AJ Whitehead will join area students as they gather together at Bethel College’s Jenkins Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for an outreach event called Fields of Faith. These students, as well as other students across the nation, will join together to hear one another’s testimonies, challenge each other to read the Bible and encourage their classmates to come to faith in Jesus Christ.
Whitehead is a 2001 Bethel graduate and former NAIA All-American for the Lady Pilot basketball program. Other Bethel achievements include:First women’s basketball player to be named a National All-America MCC Player of the Year in 2001 2000 NCCAA Tournament MVP Fifth in Career scoring (1676 pts) Seventh in Career blocks (50) Fourth in Career Rebounds (804) Second in Career Field Goal % (50.1)
Following graduation she has used the game of basketball to build relationships and spread the gospel in Europe. She joined Athletes in Action and had the opportunity to minister in the U.S. and Turkey. She also played one year for the Berlin Baskets in Germany.
Fields of Faith is a student to student ministry with a purpose to get students back to the spiritual fundamentals. It’s led by Bethel College’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) chapter, though attendance is not limited to athletes. Fields of Faith is open to all students in junior high, high school and college.
