Bethel College will partner with Mamma’s Against Violence (MAV) to host the “What’s Going On” in the community conference. It will be held on campus Saturday, October 18 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. There is no cost to attend. The event includes presentations by community members, entertainment by local artists, lunch and various give-a-ways throughout the day.
MAV is a grass-root, not-for-profit organization. The group organized in March 2003 after an increasingly alarming number of young men and women were murdered in the city of South Bend. It was then that five troubled, grieving, but concerned women came together to pray, support and encourage each other.
Today MAV has approximately 12 devoted members. Their mission offers prayer, emotional support, encouragement, awareness, prevention and education to mothers and all survivors of homicide victims. The group continues to work to stop the madness in local homes, schools, streets and businesses in order to regain a sense of security and peace in our community.
