Amazon and Barnes and Noble Web sites along with Family Christian Stores and the Bethel College Bookstore will soon carry two new youth ministry books: “High School TalkSheets: 50 Ready-To-Use Discussions on the Life of Christ,” and “Middle School TalkSheets: 50 Ready-To-Use Discussions on the Life of Christ.” The author is Terry Linhart, Ph.D., Bethel’s dean of the School of Religion and Philosophy.
These books are an easy-to-use discussion starter as well as a tool to lead students into meaningful dialogue about Jesus. The one-page, reproducible handouts offer provocative questions in a compelling design that cover everything from the prediction of his birth to his ascension. Students will delve into each aspect of Jesus’ life while looking at it through the lens of their own world and applying it to their own lives. These TalkSheets present every aspect of Jesus’ life in a way that young teens can connect with as they learn to apply the lessons to their own lives.
Linhart is developing two more books to be released in 2010. The first will serve both the international academic community in both undergraduate and graduate-level education, as well as local youth workers interested in learning more about global youth ministry. The second book will build on the global themes, but focuses North American youth leaders on essential global issues that are shaping their teenagers’ lives.
Also the co-author of “Evangelism Remixed: Empowering Students for Courageous and Contagious Faith” (due out May 2009 through Zondervan), Linhart’s research and publishing have focused on topics related to youth, culture, research and Christian theology. A former youth pastor of 16 years, he has also been a guest professor and researcher at various graduate schools around the world.
