After three days of competitive Bible quizzing, Bethel College awarded more than 200,000 in scholarships to young quizzers. It was all part of the Missionary Church Quiz International Finals held July 9-11 in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center on campus.
Teams from Diamond Cove Missionary Church, located in Cassopolis Mich., took first place in Division I and Division II. Their star quizzer, Hannah Breden, also of Cassopolis, Mich., was awarded “Most Valuable Quizzer” and “One on One Winner.” Hannah Gerig of Evergreen Missionary in Lowell, Mich., received the “Quote Off Winner” award.
The young Bible quiz competitors, ranging in ages 12 – 20 years, memorized and studied the book of Luke for nearly a year. Each quiz round was set up with two teams who competed against each other trying to answer the most questions out of 20 correctly.
The Bethel College scholarship is named in honor of Tom Schindler, one of the best known quiz masters, in recognition of his many valuable contributions and years of service to Bible quizzing. The Missionary Church has participated in Bible quiz since 1969, while Bethel College has hosted the event for more than 11 years.
