Bethel to Host "Latino Women's Expo 2009"

La Casa de Amistad presents “Latino Women’s Expo 2009” on Saturday, August 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bethel College. This event is meant to be a day of pampering, rejuvenation, education and entertainment for women with an emphasis on health, happiness, style and a balanced life.
Break-out sessions will be held on the 2nd Floor of the Academic Center. National Partnership Specialist Gina Sawyer from the Census Bureau will be the main speaker. She will discuss the 2010 census. Other topics include:Recordkeeping Taxes/ITIN’s Conflict Resolution Immigration (Citizenship and Permanent Residence) Home ownership with Habitat for Humanity Domestic Violence Personal Finances How to quit smoking Small business consulting by SCORE
The St. Joseph Regional Medical Center’s mobile clinic will be providing mammograms and pap tests for women who qualify. Memorial Hospital will also offer free diabetes and blood pressure exams.
In addition, more than 25 vendors will be showcased in the Goodman Gymnasium, while dancing events like Zumba will be displayed on the outdoor stage near the gazebo. Workshops and exhibitions are free. A lunch buffet will be provided for $7.
