Bethel Hosts Michiana Elite Bird Fair

Bethel College is hosting the 2012 Michiana Elite Bird Fair on Saturday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Wiekamp Athletic Center Gates Gymnasium. Royal Wings Aviary will present more than 30,000 square feet of displays as part of the largest bird fair in the Michiana area.

In attempts to improve the Potawatomi Zoo, offer quality family time and inform the public about exotic birds, the fair will feature two speakers: Dr. Peter Sakas, DVM, and Dr. Ric Berlinski, DVM. Both guests are well-known veterinarians. There will be a Q & A following their presentations.

The fair will also provide guests with the opportunity to purchase birds directly from breeders, as well as all of the products necessary to properly care for them. Guests may also bid on certificates from restaurants and businesses, bird products and autographed sports memorabilia during a silent auction.

The event is open to the public. Admission is $4 for adults; kids 10 and under are free. Free face painting and balloon sculptures will be available throughout the day. A portion of the fair’s proceeds will benefit the Potawatomi Zoo and endangered bird species.
