Sigma Theta Tau Celebrates New Members

Sigma Theta Tau International Nu Omicron Chapter-at-Large recently celebrated the induction of new members in a ceremony. The inductees were comprised of Bachelor of Science and Master of Science nursing students from Bethel College, Goshen College and Saint Mary’s College. Membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.
Opening remarks were given by Gail Weybright, MSN, RN, CNE, president-elect of Nu Omicron. Ruth Shearer, MSN, MS, RN, President of Nu Omicron introduced the keynote speaker, JoAnn Widerquist, RN, BSN, DM who presented the highlights of the life and work of Florence Nightingale. Following the induction ceremony, the 2012 essay winners receiving a Nu Omicron nursing scholarship were announced. Abigail Johnson of Bethel College, Alyssa Goodman of Goshen College, and Cassandralee Fill of Saint Mary’s College received the awards.
