Childhood memories. Family vacations. Come laugh and be reminded of your family road trips at Bethel College’s 19th annual Dessert Theatre on June 1, 2, 7, 8 at 8 p.m., and June 2 at 2 p.m. located in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center – Auditorium.
“Leaving Iowa” is the story of Don Browning, who returns home and decides to finally take his father’s ashes to his childhood home, as requested. But when Don discovers Grandma’s house is now a grocery store, he begins traveling across Iowa searching for a proper resting place for his father. This father-and-son road trip shifts smoothly from the present to Don’s memories of the annual torturous vacations of his childhood.
