Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo to Tour in Midwest

The Bethel College Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo will perform their annual February Jazz Tour starting in Fairborn, Ohio, on Friday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. at Rona Community Church. The tour will continue in Mooresville, Ind., on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 p.m. and then Sunday morning Feb. 24 at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Grace Mooresville Missionary. The tour will end at the First Missionary Church in Berne, Ind., on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m.

The tour is under the direction of Reginald Klopfenstein, D.M., professor of music. The concerts will feature students performing the music of Sammy Nestico, Thad Jones, Nat King Cole, Gordon Goodwin, Chris Sharp and many others. Compositions include “Switch in Time,” “Just a Closer Walk with Thee,” “A Child is Born,” “Straighten Up and Fly Right,” “Whodunnit,” “America,” “Mento-Mania,” “This Little Light of Mine,” “It Only Happens Every Time,” “Love is Here to Stay” and “Hit the Ground Running.”

Trombonist Everett Forrester, pianist Courtney Schrock, vibraphonist Clay Quantz, drums and percussionist Jacob Grabill, vocalist Sarah Fish, saxophonists Steve Horton and Brooke Victor, and trumpet players Stefan Roose, Jimmy Bennet, Kayli Savage, and Renee Struwing will be among the featured soloists.
