The Bethel College board of trustees will celebrate President Steven Cramer, Ph.D.’s, retirement on Saturday, May 11, at the Elcona Country Club, 56784 County Road 21 in Bristol, Ind. The banquet will begin at 6 p.m.

Dr. Otis Bowen, M.D., former Indiana governor, Bethel honorary trustee and medical doctor, died Saturday, May 4. He was 95.

Bethel will offer its annual Academic Camps, which provide campers from ages 7-17 with the opportunity to explore the vast world of academics. Taught by Bethel professors, along with students and staff, the camps will run during the months of June and July. The cost per camper is $125.

Nearly 50 Bethel College students from Concert Choir will tour churches throughout the Midwest from May 6-12. Directed by Associate Professor of Music Robert Ham and accompanied by Marilynn Ham, the Concert Choir will perform a variety of music relating to this year’s theme, “Agnus Dei,” (Lamb of God). The program will also feature Bethel’s a cappella group, Voices Of Triumph.

Bethel College will offer “Summer Institute for Teachers” on June 10, 11 and 12 in the Miller-Moore Academic Center, Room AC 342. Those participating in the three-day learning experience can earn up to 18 professional growth points (PGPs) or three graduate credits. Registration will be limited to the first 125 participants per session.

Bethel College will host a fundraiser to benefit victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. The Walk for Boston will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 at the Bethel College outdoor track and will end Wednesday, May 1 with a closing ceremony at 12 p.m. noon.

Routledge recently published “The Routledge Companion to Modern Christian Thought” edited by Chad Meister, Ph.D., professor of philosophy and theology at Bethel College, and James Beilby, Ph.D., professor of theology at Bethel University

This year, 582 students plan to participate in Bethel’s two commencement ceremonies. Commencement for nontraditional programs, organizational management, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) completion will take place on Saturday, May 4 at 2:30 p.m. Traditional undergraduate and graduate programs commencement will be held on Sunday, May 5 at 2:30 p.m. Both ceremonies will take place in the Wiekamp Athletic Center. Bethel College Senior Vice President Dennis Engbrecht, Ph.D., will speak at the nontraditional student ceremony on May 4 and the Rev. William Hossler, president of the Missionary Church, will speak at the traditional and graduate student ceremony on May 5.

Laugh with the comics you grew up with as a child as the department of theatre presents “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” at Bethel College’s annual summer theatre. Show times are Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m., and also on June 1 at 1 p.m. located in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center – Auditorium.

Bethel College will present its annual end-of-the-year choral showcase featuring Music Ministry Teams, The Collegians, Voices Of Triumph, Concert Choir and two special guests — Bethel’s President Steven R. Cramer, Ph.D., (’75) and the hand bell choir from St. Paul’s Retirement Community. The event takes place Friday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center – Auditorium, with a 7:15 p.m. prelude concert by the hand bell choir.
