New major at Bethel addresses changing landscape of church worship

Bethel College announces a new worship arts major and minor, set to begin in the fall of 2015. The program, uniquely designed so students can tailor it to their interests, will address the changing landscape of church worship and prepare graduates to lead in a variety of worship settings.

Ricardo Carvalho Named NCCAA Men's Soccer Player of the Year

The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) has announced that Bethel's Ricardo Carvalho has been named the 2014 NCCAA Player of the Year. In addition, Carvalho also makes his first appearance as an NCCAA First Team All-American having been named to the second-team in 2013 and honorable mention in 2012. Teammates Lukas Muszong and Pedro Amaral both were named as NCCAA Second Team All-Americans for their performance during the 2014 season.

Bethel brings back Master of Arts in Counseling program

Bethel College is enrolling students for the Master of Arts in Counseling program, set to begin in the fall of 2015. The program, previously offered at Bethel in the 1990s and early 2000s, has been frequently requested by alumni of Bethel’s undergraduate programs.

Bethel Partners with Area Churches to Offer Free Worship Conference

Five local churches are partnering with Bethel College to offer “ReFuel,” a one-day conference for church worship teams and leaders. The event, which is free and open to teams and leaders from any church, will be held Saturday, Jan. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Everest-Rohrer Chapel/Fine Arts Center – Auditorium on Bethel’s campus.

Sherwood Named Director of Alumni Relations

Bethel is pleased to announce Emily (Rodgers) Sherwood ’99 as director of alumni relations. She’s served as Bethel’s international student coordinator since 2012 and will transition into her new role in January.

Bethel Announces New Major – Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

Bethel College’s Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) program has expanded to now include a major as well as the previously offered minor. The flexible degree, which has an emphasis on real-world experience, allows graduates to work anywhere in the world and equips them to meet the communication needs of an increasingly global economy.

Bethel Announces Jody Walker as Director of Financial Aid

Bethel College announces the hiring of Jody Walker as director of financial aid. She most recently served as director of enrollment management and financial aid at the Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS) in Elkhart, Ind. She begins her role at Bethel on Nov. 24.

Bethel Student Recognized for “Realizing the Dream”

Bethel College student Christina Martin was recently recognized as one of Indiana’s 31 sophomores who is “Realizing the Dream” as a first-generation college student. The Independent Colleges of Indiana, funded by the Lilly Endowment, awards a $2,500 grant to go towards the student’s college costs, as well as honoring a teacher who influenced the student’s aspirations for college.

Bethel Athletics Achieves Champions of Character Five-Star Status

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that Bethel College has been named a recipient of the Champions of Character Five Star Award for the 2013-2014 school year.
